JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY  105
cover by Jack Kirby & Chic Stone
"THE COBRA AND MR. HYDE!"

from the GCD: "Synopsis: The Cobra meets Mister Hyde and they join forces to defeat Thor. They track Thor to Dr. Blake's office, and demand that Blake help them find Thor. Blake becomes Thor while their backs are turned and fights the two villains until they manage to take his hammer from him."

This is kinda like when 2 JOHNNY STORM villains decided to team up. Instead of hatching bigger and better criminal schemes, they waste all their time trying to get revenge on the guy who defeated them earlier. Real A**H***s. In this case, really dangerous A**H***s.

JACK KIRBY supplies story & art, his "editor" does dialogue, and Chic Stone does inks. I'm not crazy about the cover, but they can't all be winners.

"WHEN HEIMDALL FAILED!"
from the GCD: "Synopsis: In hope of attacking Asgard, King Brimer and Queen Nedra send a Vanna to pass by Heimdall and spy on them."

JACK KIRBY supplies story & art on "The Origin Of Heimdall, Part 2". His editor does dialogue, and "George Bell" returns for his 2nd of only 2 episodes of "Tales Of Asgard".

STRANGE TALES  121
cover by Jack Kirby, Sol Brodsky & Steve Ditko
"PRISONER OF THE PLANTMAN!"

Synopsis:
After improving his plant ray, The Plantman captures Johnny to get him out of the way while he pulls a robbery.  After, Doris, worried about her father, begs Johnny to stop the villain.  They have a duel at the Botonical Gardens...with predictable results.

Indexer notes:
2nd appearance of The Plantman; previous app. in STRANGE TALES #113 (October 1963); next app in X-MEN #22 (July 1966).  Plantman redesigns his costume in this episode, going from "mystery man" to "super-villain" in style.

"WITCHCRAFT IN THE WAX MUSEUM!"

Synopsis:
A phone call lures Strange away in his ectoplasmic form, so Baron Mordo can steal his body.  Knowing if the two are not reunited in 24 hours Strange is doomed, Mordo places a spell over the body so Strange cannot return to it.  Using his amulet to retrace Mordo's steps, he finds Mordo-- and his own body-- in a wax museum.  Tricking Mordo into fighting him in his ectoplasmic form, Strange turns the tables by trapping Mordo outside his body, and with Mordo held thus, is able to return to his own.  Mordo warns Strange his unwillingness to finish him will be his undoing.

Indexer notes:
Episode #105th appearance of Baron Mordo; previous app. in STRANGE TALES #117 (February 1964); next app. in STRANGE TALES #125 (October 1964).  Dr. Strange guest-stars in FANTASTIC FOUR #27 (June 1964) shortly after this story.
